Welcome to our year in review! As the year comes to a close, we’re reflecting on the incredible moments, love stories, and unforgettable events that have graced Borthwick Castle. From breath taking weddings to exclusive celebrations, here’s a look at the highlights that made this year so special.
A Celebration of Love: Weddings at Borthwick Castle
In 2024, we were honoured to host 32 beautiful weddings, each as unique as the couples who said “I do.” Couples exchanged vows in the atmospheric Garrison or embraced the outdoors with ceremonies on our picturesque Lawn, surrounded by the tranquillity of the Scottish countryside.
Hannah and Ian’s wedding in August was nothing short of extraordinary—a four-day celebration filled with unforgettable moments. Their festivities included an exclusive private tour and canapé reception at the enchanting Rosslyn Chapel. The celebrations continued with a surprise mid-feast performance by the dynamic Clanadonia, adding an electrifying touch of Scottish tradition. Guests enjoyed a relaxed BBQ on the Lawn complete with lawn games, not forgetting the magical wedding day itself, where love, laughter, and the beauty of Borthwick Castle created memories to last a lifetime.
Memorable Milestones and Events
Beyond weddings, we had the pleasure of hosting a variety of private events, from milestone anniversaries to luxurious family gatherings and celebrations.
Among the highlights was a Babylon-themed birthday celebration that brought opulence and grandeur to the castle.
In July, we welcomed two remarkable family stays. One was a three-day gathering filled with excitement and tradition—guests took on an Eeek! Escape Room challenge, enjoyed an evening with a Scottish storyteller, danced the night away at a ceilidh, and ventured to Schloss Roxburghe for an activity day followed by a lively casino night in the Stateroom.
The other was a four-day family retreat that began with a traditional piper welcome at the castle gates. Guests embraced the outdoors with Highland Games and falconry on the Lawn, explored Rosslyn Chapel, and ventured into Edinburgh for day trips. The stay ended on a cosy note with a family movie night in the Garrison, creating memories to cherish forever.

Awards and Recognition
We are thrilled to have won the local and national Wedding Venue of the Year at the 2024 Scottish Wedding Awards with Amy Owen being awarded a Highly Commended recognition in the Wedding Venue Coordinator Category as well. We were also delighted to receive a Highly Commended recognition at the 2024 Confetti Awards in the Unique Wedding Venue Category, along with reaching the finalist lists in the Your Scottish Wedding Awards for Wedding Venue Planner for Aine Edwards and Wedding Venue of the Year. It’s a testament to the passion and dedication of our team in creating magical moments for our guests.
